THIS VISIT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please contact cpd25@london.ac.uk with any queries.

This event will be an opportunity to hear about the range and scope of our civic engagement and outreach projects with the archival collections that we hold here at UEL.  Over the past several years we have undertaken projects looking at the life histories of refugees in East London and the creation of the Living Refugee Archive; performance theatre based on archival narratives with our UG performing arts students; working with the UEL OLIve course for refugees and asylum seekers; ongoing co-productive work documenting the community history of North Woolwich and Silvertown; and a Heritage Lottery Funded project “Passing the Flame” documenting the inter-generational legacies of the three London Olympics.

There will also be time to sample materials from our Archival Collections including the Refugee Council Archive; Hackney Empire Theatre Archive; Eastside Community Heritage Oral History Archive and the British Olympic Association!  Listen to life histories; explore a pirate map; and maybe even hold an Olympic Torch!
