CPD 25 Senior Managers Skills Workshop Programme 2005
1st, 15th February & 2nd, 17th March
King’s College London
Maughan Library
9.45am to 4.30pm

CPD25 Senior Managers Skills Workshop is specifically designed for the needs of today’s experienced but busy senior library managers.

This innovative programme consists of four one-day workshops but it is not necessary to attend all of them. We are offering a ‘pick and mix’ approach so that participants can attend just one seminar, or any two seminars, or any three seminars, or all four. There is a discount for booking all four seminars.

These seminars are suitable for those already working at senior library management levels or those with at least five years of middle management experience with aspirations to go further.

The sessions are intended to be practical. Participants will be encouraged to share ideas and approaches to identify individual service action plans, which can be implemented on their return to work.

Overall Objectives

To provide a high quality series of seminars that reflects the specific needs of senior library managers within higher education

To help participants to identify the key elements of managing and supporting staff in the context of change

To give practical help in achieving results through effective strategic management and decision-making processes.

To enhance the political skills necessary for making an impact upwards, sideways and downwards.

To explore the deeper problems of managing performance in the light of legal considerations, and without neglecting our own needs.

To allow an exchange of ideas and experience across different institutions

To share good practice from within library and information services and elsewhere

To improve individual skills and self confidence

To encourage a problem solving approach through the preparation of individual and service action plans
