Event Type

How do we support researchers?
Support for the REF, bibliometrics, skills training for new researchers…

Librarians have always provided support for the research community, but in recent years it has emerged as a key agenda and looks set to become a core activity in many university libraries.

This half day event will provide an overview of some of the issues facing HE libraries, including how the roles and skills of librarians need to develop to meet the needs of our research community. Presentations from colleagues in libraries that have already implemented research support programmes will give an insight into how to provide support and some ideas to take back to our own libraries.

Speakers:

Antony Brewerton, Head of Academic Services, University of Warwick Library
Michelle Schneider, Academic Skills Development Officer (Information Literacy), University of Leeds
Nicola Wright, Information Services Manager, LSE Library
Joanna Ball, Research Liaison Manager at the University of Sussex Library; joined by Chris Kempshall, a doctoral student in History and a ‘Research Hive Scholar’

Venue: SOAS Brunei Gallery, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG
