What we do in the training room matters, but what our trainees do afterwards matters more.

This event will include an introduction about learning transfer, a discussion about personal experience and how learning transfer can be applied in the workplace, and end with an open forum Q & A and networking lunch.

Delegates are asked to consider:

  • What is your understanding of learning transfer?
  • Is it applied in your workplace?
  • If not, why not? If yes, how?

Librarians are a contributor to enabling learning transfer due to their involvement is supplying further content and advice after a lecture/workshop.

Also, from a staff development point of view – how do the librarians manage their own learning transfer following their attendance at a training course?

This event will be facilitated by Paul Matthews, Learning and Performance Expert.
Paul makes ideas come alive with stories, practical tools and tips everyone can understand. This has led to two bestselling books and speaking appearances worldwide. He is an expert in informal learning, enabling capability, performance, learning transfer, workflow learning and onboarding.

He will delve into the latest metanalysis of over 100 years of research into learning transfer and pull out some of the tips and tools that you can use.

  • The 12 practical levers you can pull
  • Before, during and after the course
  • The key to achieving new behaviours
  • How mindset matters
  • Transfer expectations
