Directors’ Briefing: IT Security

Directors and Heads of Service (from both within and without the M25 Consortium) are invited to attend a Directors’ Briefing on IT Security. Directors should feel free to send a deputy if unable to attend themselves.
In recent years, universities, libraries and cultural institutions have seen an increase in cyberattacks from criminals and other attackers.
These attacks include targeted ransomware attacks and attempts to harvest user credentials for reuse, but also attacks with no apparent aim other than to disrupt institutions’ networks and access. During the rapid move to online working during the Covid-19 pandemic, attackers sought to exploit weak points exposed in this new working environment.
In this Directors’ Briefing, our speakers will present on their own experience and reflections from dealing with cyberattacks at their own institutions, and the outlook for the future as cyberattacks become increasingly sophisticated and institutions seek to increase their resilience to attack.

- Members – M25 Consortium members receive one free Directors’ Briefing place per institution per year (this is the second briefing of the year for 2020-21). Additional places cost £50
- Non-M25 Consortium members £75
Cancellations less than one week before the event will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.
In the event of a ‘no-show’ on the day, the full fee will be charged.
