Call for annual conference papers 2018
Theme: User engagement
Date: Tuesday 24th April 2018
Venue: Grand Saloon, Theatre Royal Drury Lane (to be confirmed)
We invite abstracts of not more than 250 words for either a presentation or Pecha Kucha that will highlight examples of best practice in user engagement. This could be a successful project you’ve run in the past or concerning more general trends in the sector. The key requirement is that presentations be both informative and engaging, giving delegates plenty of ideas to consider applying to their own libraries. Your abstract could cover one or more of the following, though this is not an exhaustive list and we welcome all submissions:
* User Experience and UX approaches to service design
* Co-design of library services with users
* Community engagement; events and exhibitions
* Collaboration/partnerships for service delivery
* Promoting engagement through space design
* Mystery shopper
* Information and digital literacy
* Gaming and gamification
* Innovative approaches to gathering and acting on user feedback
* Social media
Presentations will normally be 25-35 mins long, including Q&A. Pecha Kuchas will be 6 minutes and 40 seconds long, comprising 20 slides appearing for 20 seconds each. Example guidance for delivering a Pecha Kucha can be found here: https://globaldigitalcitizen.org/how-to-make-great-presentations-with-pecha-kucha.
Submissions are encouraged from all levels of staff at all types of library. You must be employed at an M25 Member library (https://www.m25lib.ac.uk/about-the-consortium/directory-of-members-representatives/) to apply.
Deadline for submission of abstracts/proposals: Noon on Friday 19th January 2018. They should be emailed to Thomas Baldwin, M25 Executive Manager firstname.lastname@example.org Applicants will be informed of the outcome by early February.
