Brunel University
Brunel has appointed Ann Cummings to the new post of Deputy Director. Ann will be joining the Library on 10 September and leading a process review and restructuring of core library services and operations. Ann is currently Associate Librarian at the University of Dundee and prior to that, worked at the University of Gloucestershire. Univerity of East London
The UEL Library and Learning Services are extremely happy to welcome two new Managers to the team. Gurdish Sandhu joined as their Head of Systems and Cathy Walsh as their Head of Services. Gurdish was Collections and Business Systems Manager at Salford University and now has responsibility for the strategic direction, policy development and operational effectiveness of the Library systems and information resources at UEL. Cathy comes from closer to home. She was Learning Resources Manager at the Commercial Road library at London Metropolitan University, and is now responsible for strategic direction, policy development and operational effectiveness for their three campus libraries, as well as academic and customer services and information and skills work. Jane Falconer will be joining LSHTM Library as Information Services Librarian in September 2007. Jane is currently Information Skills Trainer at the Royal Free Hospital Medical Library, UCL Library Services and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post at LSHTM. Her responsibilities will include designing and delivering the Library's information skills teaching programme and she will work closely with academic staff to ensure that students and researchers can benefit from information resources both during their time at the School and when they go on to work in the field. As a member of the Library's Management Team Jane will play a key role in developing services and the formulation of policies and strategy. The Open University in London Cheryl Coveney was appointed as the new Customer Services Manager of the Library at Milton Keynes in July 2007. She brings lots of experience from her years of work in managing a front-line service in Further Education, most recently at City and Islington College.
