Nightingale Centre Opens at Kingston

A significant extension to our Kingston Hill Learning Resources Centre has opened for student use.  Renamed the Nightingale Centre, in honour of Florence Nightingale who regularly visited relatives in the area, the extension provides additional space across 3 floors.  The ground floor features a new reception area, learning café and flexible learning centre.  Floors two and three provide a mix of study space, fixed PCs, laptop zones and group study rooms.  Nightingale will receive its official public opening in January.

Self-Service in all LRCs
This September saw the completion of our 18 month programme to install RFID self-issue (provided by Intellident) across our 4 Learning Resources Centres.  Although all sites currently issue and return items via the system, the final stage of the project will see the installation of a fully automated sortation unit at the Nightingale Centre.  Self-service has proved overwhelmingly popular with students with the vast majority of materials now handled through the system.
