Rachel Graham recently took up the newly created post of Research Services Librarian. Rachel will be responsible for the development of our Institutional Repository, ROAR, and for co-ordinating services to researchers at UEL.
Andrew Manley, Assistant Librarian, joined our Stratford Campus Library team in May.

Simone Okolo, Nicky Hale and Cathy Walsh were all recently awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Stratford Campus Library

The Library has just been allocated some additional space which will enable us to add 50 study spaces and to reorganise our collections during the summer period. In addition we will be able to create more quiet areas, including one for PC use.

In the longer term we have received the wonderful news that a new library will be built at Stratford for completion in 2013. We are still in the very early stages of planning at the moment but we are looking forward to working closely with the academic Schools, with students and with other services at UEL to realise our vision.

Events

The Academic Services team ran a very successful Research Support day for UEL staff on 9th June. Sessions offered included training in Endnote, Citation Analysis and a range of specialist databases.

Members of Library and Learning Services will contribute to the annual UEL Learning and Teaching Conference on 25th June. Papers include “East London Lives: creating an archive of the London 2012 games” by Dr Mary Smith and “How can we help? Developing library staff skills to support e learning” by Cathy Walsh.
