News from Middlesex University

Ruth Moore joined Middlesex on January 17th as the new Deputy Director of Learning Resources, replacing Judith Cattermole who retired in the summer. Ruth will be responsible for the successful day-to-day running of the service, taking the lead on operational matters and co-ordinating projects particularly where they cut across teams, taking responsibility for the management of staffing and staff development issues within Learning Resources, and directly managing the core administrative functions. Ruth joins us from London South Bank University where she was Deputy in the Centre for Learning Support and Development, a service with a similar portfolio to LR at Middlesex.

Ruth will be joined by a new Assistant Director (Customer Services), Gary Clarke, from February 14th. Gary replaces Meg Kirk who retired in January. Gary is currently Head of Service Development at London Metropolitan University, responsible for the development of a range of commercial service areas across the University. Gary will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating customer services across campuses and off-campus, ensuring that the service works more closely with its customers and creating systems and services which address their needs.

Work has commenced on the refurbishment of the Lower Ground and Ground Floors of the Sheppard Library, in preparation for the relocation of the Cat Hill collections. The Cat Hill LRC will close on 3 June 2011.
