City University London
City University London launched its Strategic Plan 2012-16 in March. It brings with it, a renewed commitment to academic excellence and the release of funds for substantial investment in academic staff, infrastructure and services, including Library Services.
Library Services published it’s Year in Review 2011 highlighting the Service’s achievements and substantial contribution to supporting education, research and enterprise at City University.
Learning spaces are the focus of major project that will change the configuration of student learning and social spaces across the Library Service. Refurbishment of Level 6 of the University Library, Northampton Square took place last summer, a new Library Graduate Centre for postgraduates opened in January 2012 and a state of the art Financial Resources suite in March. The Bloomberg Dealing Room at Cass Business School, Bunhill Row will also be refurbished this summer.
The Law Library on Level 4 moved to temporary premises in College building, in April; building work has started on a more permanent home nearby, for the academic law collections which will open in January 2013. The Medical collection also moved from Whitechapel to Northampton Square in April, following the completion earlier this year of a major project which saw the reclassification to Dewey of 32,000 items. The Whitechapel premises will close on termination of the lease in June.
The Library Services website has been restructured and migrated to a new content management system following substantial work by a library whole service group.
