The Courtauld Institute of Art is undertaking a complete refurbishment of the Book Library this summer, in order to significantly improve this critical resource for all its users.
Among key improvements, the majority of the book stock will be relocated to the basement floor and arranged in a continuous sequence; an extra 30 networked study spaces will also be created and seating concentrated in daylight areas. Ventilation will be improved. As well as being re-painted and decorated throughout, the Library will be re-carpeted and the brickwork sealed. Plans of the detailed proposals are available in the Library.
To achieve this however, there will be interim disruption. Given the scale of work, the library will have to close for the refurbishment period.
The Book Library will close at 21:00 on Friday, 15th June 2007 and will reopen to all users on 1st October 2007.
