Winter 2007/08
Queen Mary, University of London
Queen Mary has appointed Emma Bull to the post of Director of Library Services. Emma joined the Library on 15 October from Royal Holloway where she worked for 4½ years, most recently as Acting Librarian. Emma has previously worked for Imperial College, West Herts College and the University of Hertfordshire.
Royal Holloway, University of London
Sarah Gerrard retired from Royal Holloway on 30 September 2007. Sarah first came to Royal Holloway as Librarian but later took on the role of Director of Information Services. Her energy, enthusiasm and leadership will be missed very much by her Library and IT colleagues at Royal Holloway. Sarah was very well respected and an active member of the profession.
Alasdair Paterson has been asked to take on the post of Librarian at Bedford Library at Royal Holloway University, on a temporary (6 months) basis. Before his retirement last year he was Librarian and Acting Director of Information Services at the University of Exeter.
London Metropolitan University
Catherine Phillpotts has joined the London Metropolitan University from Senate House Library as Learning Resources Manager at Commercial Road.
Julie Howell has had management responsibility for the Women's Library since July, pending the appointment of a successor to Antonia Byatt.
