Makeover for University of Reading Library

Main Library makeover – summer 2007

Work has begun to refurbish the Main Library Whiteknights. The ground floor area is due to reopen in October 2007 with a new contemporary, uncluttered look – a fitting entrance to a key service supporting the University’s academic success. Included is:

  • an enlarged Course Collection with extra study space
  • a ‘Knowledge Exchange’ with different furniture to allow various methods of study and informal academic interaction
  • group study rooms
  • an integrated Reception and Information Desk to provide a more efficient service
  • a bigger, staffed café area
  • Upgraded and extended cabling on upper floors will provide wireless access throughout the building.

Until 29 September, Main Library will open with certain services relocated and areas screened off for customers’ protection. See the Main Library Makeover website or call (0118) 378 8770 for more information.
