Staffing and Restructuring
In Summer 2011 the new Head of Library implemented an organisational restructure and role refresh which included the creation of new functional teams and a new Senior Library Assistant post to administer journal subscriptions and document delivery. The teams are:

Tim Wales – Head of Library
Jonathan Eaton – Electronic Resources Manager

Tracey Ellis – Acquisitions Manager
Zena Ali – Senior Library Assistant

Rachel Madley ¬– Senior Information Specialist
Ann Folkmans – Information Specialist

John Hall – Customer Services Manager
Marie Grace Cannon, Milly Castle, Oonagh Good & Federica Signoriello - Evening & weekend team

FactSet
From the 1st September the Library has subscribed to the global financial markets database: FactSet Connect. This is already highly integrated into teaching on the MBA finance electives. FactSet Connect uses thin client technology to let students access FactSet from Windows, Mac and Linux PCs using a standard web browser. This represents a step change in our provision of financial datasets and analytics as we can now offer a top brand, (used by over 70% of investment banks) to students, staff and faculty wherever they are, and on any kind of PC.

Library Strategy
A new 5 year Library Strategy from 2012/13 is currently in its consultation phase with School stake- holders. The process of consulting with the various subject areas and departments has provided useful insights in to how the Library is perceived and we look forward to having an agreed strategy with funding that will assist us in improving services for the School’s diverse customer base in the future. The strategy also puts forward proposals for where the Library could sit in the School’s organisational structure.

Discovery Services
Like many other libraries who have been using federated search we are now looking to provide our customers with a more “Google style” interface and are testing EBSCO’s Discovery Service currently with other trials planned.

Database and Research Training
The information specialist team have been extending the range of business-focused topics they cover: liaising closely with our Careers department to include training on career/interview research and also providing new training to course staff on understanding copyright for course pack creation.
Following best practice elsewhere, they have also increased capacity on the ever popular financial database training sessions by using a new dedicated library training laptop with client software pre-installed in School lecture theatres.

JSTOR for Alumni
We are participating in a JSTOR Alumni programme which will provide full access to our JSTOR subscription globally to our Alumni.

Compliance
As well as the completing the School’s CLA Annual Return in 2011, the Library also facilitated the School’s CLA Copyright of Photocopying Survey at the end of the year – perhaps this survey will be a thing of the past in 5 years time?!
