How to wear a banner stand
Tuesday, 01 November 2005
That was the challenge recently faced by members of the Consortium's Advocacy Working Group. Why? Well the Group decided that the Consortium would benefit from having display banners to celebrate achievements and put across key messages at collaborative events, courses, events and even the AGM. The first banner will aim to show the power and influence of collaboration and partnership; the second to promote the flagship services offered by CPD25. And how do you wear a banner? Well, having established that the banner needed to be highly portable by Consortium members, the Group found themselves packing up and "trying on" various banner stands. Some looked like chunky snooker cues and we ruled out the one which looked like a shotgun!

So, if ever you are considering buying a banner stand for your library, we found that the key criteria are whether they are lightweight enough to be carried by one person, easy to assemble, and say something relevant. The Advocacy Working Group believes it has selected a stand and messages that fit the bill. Members should be able to judge for themselves at the January 2006 Consortium meeting.
