Farewell to Brian Murphy

Past and present officers of the M25 Consortium gathered at a restaurant in Covent Garden on 3 July, 2007 to say farewell to one of the founder members of the Consortium, Brian Murphy, who is retiring as Director of Information Services of Queen Mary College, London. Three other founder members of the Consortium attended the dinner – Jean Sykes, Denis Heathcote and Roy Williams, who were also key players in the establishment of the Consortium in 1993. In total, the gathering included six former Chairs of the Consortium (Denis Heathcote, Jean Sykes, Brian Murphy, Suzanne Enright, Anne Bell, Robert Hall), and three former Secretaries (Brian Murphy, Roy Williams, Suzanne Enright) as well as the current Secretary, Maureen Wade.

Brian Murphy’s contribution to the Consortium over the last 14 years has been immense. Most recently he has been a stalwart member of the Collaboration & Partnership Group and the Resource Discovery Working Group, where he has filled in as Chair during the absence of William Marsterson. But over and above his valuable input over many years, Brian is well known as one of the nicest members of the Consortium and he will be much missed by his M25 colleagues.
