Work is now starting on planning for a very welcome, if unexpected, £12M extension to the LRC. The next term will see much planning activity including sending virtually every member of library staff to see another new library mostly in the M25 area. So my thanks in advance to anyone who is able to welcome one of our teams. In the meantime the work continues on the existing round of building works. Nearly finished is a climate controlled archives store on the top floor of the LRC with a secure reading room. This will house archive such as Froebel and Anne Hutcheson Guest Language of Dance. Next term we will be building a cybercafé on the ground floor, which we hope will be the focus of the more social computing. It will be accessible 24/7/365 (if that's the correct way to put it!)
